ENERGY STAR
Since 1996, D+R has worked with the federal government and its private-sector partners to make the ENERGY STAR logo the national symbol for energy efficiency.

Weatherization
Our work for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has included providing weatherization technical assistance, on-site training, on-site monitoring, and/or quality assurance reviews in 49 of the 56 U.S. states and territories along with several Native American Tribal Nations.

LED Lighting Facts
We built this partnership program to help build confidence that LED lighting would perform as advertised, including creating the LED Lighting Facts label, recruiting manufacturers and retailers, implementing a quality assurance program, and developing the program’s sophisticated website and database.

Attachments Energy Rating Council
D+R helped establish and now serves as program manager for the Attachments Energy Rating Council (AERC). AERC is the first rating, certification, and labeling program for window attachments (shutters, blinds, shades, and awnings).

DesignLights Consortium
Since 2011, D+R has provided support to the DesignLights Consortium (DLC), including processing applications for products to be included on the DLC Qualified Product List, researching and developing draft specifications and policies, providing direct support to more than 1,000 manufacturers around the world, developing and maintaining the DLC database and website, and helping plan and run the annual DLC Stakeholder Meeting.

State Energy Efficient Appliance Rebate Program (SEEARP)
D+R helped DOE and State Energy Offices from all 56 states and territories design and implement the $300 million State Energy Efficient Appliance Rebate Program.

Reduced Wattage Lamp Replacement Initiative
D+R manages the Reduced Wattage Lamp Replacement (RWLR) Initiative for the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (NEEA). We helped develop the initial incentive model and conducted a market test. We assisted NEEA with scaling the market test up to a full regional program, and our program management includes coordinating efforts to increase the number of participating distributors and make low-wattage T8 lamps the standard lamp sold in the region.

Unitary HVAC Market Report
D+R partners with Heating, Air-conditioning & Refrigeration Distributors International (HARDI) to produce the Unitary HVAC Market Share Report, which includes analysis of aggregate sales of unitary products (air conditioners, heat pumps, furnaces, and boilers) nationwide and by region, with breakdowns by efficiency level, equipment type (ducted vs. ductless), fuel type, capacity, and refrigerant type. It is based on our analysis of more than 10 million sales records submitted voluntarily by more than 3,500 branches of HARDI member distributors.

Better Buildings Challenge
D+R serves as the Public Sector Subject Matter Expert to the Better Buildings Challenge (BBC), an initiative of the DOE to partner with leaders in the public and private sectors to make the nation’s homes, commercial buildings, and industrial plants more energy-efficient by accelerating investment and sharing of successful best practices. D+R supports DOE leads for the K-12 education sector, local governments, and state governments by helping DOE staff develop better networks among BBC members, researching new opportunities for DOE to consider, supporting recruitment of new BBC members, and providing support and content for the BBC communications and outreach.

Set-Top Boxes
D+R is the Independent Administrator and Auditor for the Voluntary Agreement for Ongoing Improvement to the Energy Efficiency of Set-Top Boxes. We collect data from pay-television service providers on new set-top boxes purchased; prepare a public annual report covering cable set-top box performance and trends across the industry; assess service provider compliance with the Voluntary Agreement; and conduct an annual random procurement audit of one service provider.

Small Network Equipment
D+R also serves as the Independent Administrator and Auditor for the Voluntary Agreement for Ongoing Improvement to the Energy Efficiency of Small Network Equipment. D+R collects data from residential broadband Internet providers on equipment purchased; prepares a public annual report covering small network equipment performance and trends across the industry; assesses service provider compliance with the Voluntary Agreement; and conducts an annual random procurement audit of one service provider.
